For information on military service in Hungary, including the minimum and maximum ages for receiving a call-up order, the length of service, the penalty for failure to respond to a call-up order, the alternative military service that is available, and the medical and educational situations that permit people to forego or postpone their compulsory military service, please consult the Hungarian Helsinki Committee attachment of 22 November 1995 and that from the Embassy of the Republic of Hungary dated 17 November 1995. For a copy of the questions that were sent to the Embassy, please consult the attached portion of the letter sent by the DIRB on 8 November 1995.
