IRB – Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (Author)
There are no reports of any escape from
Kokolo military camp in the sources consulted by the Research
Directorate. During a 5 June 1998 telephone, the president of la
Voix des sans voix pour les droits de l'homme (VSV), one of the
most important human rights organizations in Kinshasa explained
that Kokolo is the biggest military camp in Kinshasa with some
maximum security detention centres. However, he indicated that his
organization is not aware of any documented case of escape from
those centres.
This Response was prepared after
researching publicly accessible information currently available to
the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is
not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any
particular claim to refugee status or asylum. Please find below the
list of sources consulted in researching this Information
Request.
