IRB – Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (Author)
According to a representative of the
Embassy of the Republic of El Salvador in Ottawa, citizens of El
Salvador do not require passports to travel to Guatemala; only
Salvadoran identification cards (Cédula de
Identificación Personal) are necessary (12 Sept. 1994). This
information was corroborated by the attached press reports.
This response was prepared after
researching publicly accessible information currently available to
the DIRB within time constraints. This response is not, and does
not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular
claim to refugee status or asylum.
