Information on the specific subjects of the
Islamic Dress Law and the Shari'a dress code is currently
unavailable to the DIRB. Nonetheless, it might be of interest to
note that there is no section in the Shari'a that discusses the
dress code for women (Doi 1984). Iran is one of the countries where
the Shari'a has been reformed through legislative processes (Ibid.,
457). The dress code for women and the penalties that go with it
have become part of the laws of Iran through article 102 of Iran's
Islamic Penal Code, a copy of which is attached.
Additional and/or corroborative information
on the requested subject is currently unavailable to the DIRB in
Ottawa.
