Details on 1987 educational reform; consequences of joining CDR's for secretly passing government information to opponents; details on late-1989 coup attempt - Ghana [GHA4797]

Please find attached a copy of the response to Information Request GHA 4891 and its attachments, which contain all detailed accounts of the late-1989 coup attempt currently available to the IRBDC. Also attached, please find a copy of page B35 of Africa Contemporary Record 1986-87 (New York/London: Africana Publishing Company, 1988), which contains details on the educational reform of 1987. For a general description of the educational system after the reform, please consult at your regional Documentation Centre the last page of the section on Ghana of Africa South of the Sahara 1990 (London: Europa Publications, 1990).

Specific information on the possible consequences of joining the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDRs) for passing government information to opponents could not be found among the sources currently available to the IRBDC.

Names of people involved in the late-1989 coup attempt other than those mentioned in the attachments could not be found among the GHA 4891 attachments on the Ghanaian UNIFIL group are not included with this response.
