A staff member of the Federación de
Veteranos de Guerra (Federation of War Veterans) stated that in
1989 the Asociación de Veteranos de Guerra 2 de Abril (April
2nd War Veterans Association) published a monthly newspaper, which
is now a bimonthly magazine (13 July 1994). The journal deals with
issues of interest to war veterans, such as the Malvinas (Falkland
Islands) or the status of war veterans in Argentina (ibid.). In
1989 it was headed by Mr. César Gonzales (or Gonz lez) Trejo
(ibid.). The association existed as an autonomous group for many
years before 1989, but the association now forms part of the
federation (ibid.). According to the source, the federation
structure is similar to a trade union's, and thus it doesn't have a
president or leader but does have a secretary-general (ibid.).
The address of the association and the
federation is
Calle Piedras 930, 1er piso
C.P. 1070
Capital Federal, Argentina
The coordinator of the Casa del Veterano de
Guerra (House of the War Veteran), an organization not associated
with the federation cited above, stated that "2 de abril" was the
name of a journal published by a group of veterans (13 July 1994).
The Casa del Veterano published a journal entitled "Nuestras
Islas," which similarly dealt with issues like the Malvinas
(Falkland Islands) campaign and current veterans affairs (ibid.).
The group that published "2 de Abril" may have been known as the
Asociación de Veteranos 2 de Abril, but it now goes under
the name of Federación de Veteranos de Guerra (ibid.).
According to the source, the federation does not represent all
veterans or veterans associations of Argentina, although it is one
of the most important veterans associations.
A copy of a 1989 issue of the association's
newspaper could not be obtained in time to meet your deadline.
