Information on the personal information a
Registrar is required to obtain from a couple before issuing them a
marriage certificate and on whether this information can be
approximate; on whether the Registrar requires the original birth
certificates of the couple; and on the perception of the
authorities and general public regarding the accuracy of
information provided on a marriage certificate could not be found
among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate.
Requests LKA19447.E of 9 February 1995 and
LKA20120.E of 6 April 1995 provide information on the contents of a
marriage certificate.
LKA25085.E of 21 October 1996 provides
general information on the procedures to obtain a copy of a birth
or marriage certificate.
