Whether a non-Liberian national with an expired permit of residence and an expired permit to re-enter has lost his/her right to permanent residence and to return to Liberia [LBR42937.E]

In a 23 August 2004 telephone interview, the chargé d'affaires at the Embassy of Liberia in Paris, France explained that expired documents would not be accepted at a Liberian border post (23 Aug. 2004). He explained that a non-Liberian national would have to obtain a visa from outside Liberia to re-enter the country and then would have to apply for another permit of residence from within the country (Embassy of Liberia, Paris 23 Aug. 2004). In a 23 August 2004 telephone interview, the consul at the Embassy of Liberia in Washington, DC corroborated this information and added that a person with an expired permit of residence would have an advantage in obtaining another permit in Liberia (23 Aug. 2004).
