Deadly Car Bomb Hits Mainly Shi'ite Area In Baghdad
August 26, 2014
A car bomb has killed at least 10 people and wounded some 20 others in a predominantly Shi'ite neighborhood of eastern Baghdad.
Police said the car bomb was detonated at a busy intersection in the Jadidah, or New Baghdad, area early on August 26.
A wave of bombings on August 25 killed at least 54 people in Baghdad and southern cities of Karbala and Hillah.
The violence comes after political parties nominated Prime Minister-designate Haider al-Abadi in a bid to form a new government that reduces sectarian tensions.
