A car exploded in Russia's North Caucasus region of Daghestan on March 30, killing one police officer and wounding another.
Local law enforcement officials say the car detonated with police in pursuit in Daghestan's southern Tabasaran district.
The incident occurred a day after two police vehicles exploded on the outskirts of Daghestan's capital, Makhachkala, killing a police officer and injuring two other law enforcement officers.
The Islamic State extremist group said its local affiliate was responsible for the March 29 attack.
Daghestan has become the epicenter of violence by militants seeking to establish an Islamic state in the North Caucasus.
It also affected by deadly violence linked to an Islamist insurgency that is rooted in two post-Soviet separatist wars in neighboring Chechnya.
Police and government officials are regularly targeted in attacks.
