Kabul Suicide Attack Kills Three People, Wounds Lawmaker

Asuicide bomber targeting an Afghan parliamentary deputy has killed three people in the capital, Kabul. 

Interior Ministry deputy spokesman Najeebullah Danish told RFE/RL  that Gul Pacha Mujedi, a lawmaker from the eastern province of Paktia, was wounded in the March 29 bombing along with seven other people.

Danish said the blast hit the convoy in which Mujedi was traveling in.

Ministry spokesman Sediq Sediqqi said Mujedi was coming out of a meeting when a suicide attacker on foot detonated his explosives.

Kabul police chief Abdul Rahman Rahimi said the legislator sustained shrapnel wounds to his leg.

No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.

The Taliban and other militant groups often target Afghan officials and members of the security forces.
