At least three foreign soldiers have been killed in a suspected suicide car bomb attack on a convoy of international troops in Afghanistan's capital, Kabul.

Afghan police and the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) confirmed the casualties in attack in the east of the capital on December 27.

ISAF has not disclosed the identities or nationalities of those killed.

Earlier, Hashmat Stanakzai, a spokesman for the Kabul police, said six Afghan civilians were also wounded in the attack.

Afghan television channels showed the remains of an exploded car and armored vehicles stopped nearby.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement sent to journalists.
