Four Suspected Militants Killed In Daghestan

Russian authorities say four militants have been killed in two separate incidents in Daghestan in the troubled North Caucasus region.

A regional spokesman for Russia's Investigative Committee says security forces killed two militants in a special operation near the city of Khasavyurt on November 16.

Two more militants were killed in a car after they reportedly opened fire at police near a village in the same district that day.

Investigators are still trying to identify those killed.

Daghestan has become one of the most volatile republics in Russia's North Caucasus.

Islamic insurgents professing extreme forms of Islam regularly attack police, officials, and moderate Muslims.
