Abducted Afghan Politician Found Dead
June 07, 2011
Afghan authorities say they have found the body of a provincial legislator after his kidnapping by unknown assailants in northern Afghanistan.
The body of Jawad Zuhaak, the head of the provincial council in central Bamiyan Province, was found murdered in neighboring Parwan Province on June 7.
He and his bodyguard were abducted as they were traveling to Parwan on June 3.
Bamiyan, which ranks among the most secure provinces in the country, is one of six initial regions where Afghan forces are expected to take over security responsibilities from NATO-led forces in July.
