Information on whether there are offices or districts responsible for different offenses and/or crimes in the Public Security Bureau (PSB) [CHN9954]

A representative of the Chinese Community Centre in Ottawa states that there are several divisions in the PSB, each of which is responsible for a specific type of crime (2 Jan. 1992). However, these divisions are known to the public only by their numbers (Division 1, for example) and not by their specific tasks or jurisdictions (Ibid.).
A Chinese expert and professor of History at York University maintains that the PSB consists of different departments, each of which deals with a specific crime (6 Jan. 1992).
Additional and/or corroborating information on the subject is currently unavailable to the IRBDC.
