Document #1257861
IRB – Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (Author)
An official of the High Commission for the
Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Ottawa stated in a 16 November 1995
telephone interview that a replacement national ID card has the
same number as the original card and will have the word "duplicate"
stamped on it. The official added that the date of issue of the
card is located on the bottom right hand corner of the card,
whereas the ID number is located on the back of the ID card
(ibid.). The official stated that occasionally, either the year of
issue of the ID card or the holder's year of birth can appear as
digits 4 and 5 of the ID number (ibid.).
This Response was prepared after
researching publicly accessible information currently available to
the DIRB within time constraints. This Response is not, and does
not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular
claim to refugee status or asylum.
