IRB – Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (Author)
A representative of the International
Federation of Journalists (IFJ) in Caracas, after conducting
consultations and a search of reports about the treatment of
journalists in Venezuela, stated in a telephone interview that no
journalists were killed inside the presidential residence of La
Casona during the February 1992 coup attempt or at any other moment
in 1992 (5 Jan. 1995).
This response was prepared after
researching publicly accessible information currently available to
the DIRB within time constraints. This response is not, and does
not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular
claim to refugee status or asylum. Please find attached the list of
additional sources consulted in researching this information
