Information on whether Ms. Nelly Maria Gunter, a journalist for the El Nacional newspaper, was killed inside the presidential residence, La Casona, during the February 1992 coup attempt and on whether she was the only person killed at that time [VEN19305.E]

A representative of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) in Caracas, after conducting consultations and a search of reports about the treatment of journalists in Venezuela, stated in a telephone interview that no journalists were killed inside the presidential residence of La Casona during the February 1992 coup attempt or at any other moment in 1992 (5 Jan. 1995).

This response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the DIRB within time constraints.
