Update to Response to Information Request KWT19839.E of 31 March 1995 on whether in 1994 the Kuwaiti government was still arresting and detaining Bedoons suspected of supporting Iraq during the Iraqi invasion [KWT20426.E]

In a telephone interview on 5 April 1995, a representative of the Kuwaiti Association to Defend War Victims (KADWV) stated that his organization was not aware of any arrest or detention in 1994 of Bedoons suspected of supporting Iraq during the Iraqi invasion. The representative added that KADWV was informed of some cases where Bedoons were asked to go to a police station in order to clarify their identity; once the interrogation was completed, they were free to go (ibid).

This response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the DIRB within time constraints.
