Follow-up to KGT31099.E of 19 January 1999 on whether Kyrgyzstan has an extradition treaty or agreement with Armenia that allows for the extradition to Armenia of persons wanted by the Armenian authorities who are residing in Kyrgyzstan (and vice versa) (January 1996 - January 1999) [KGT31247.E]

A 28 January 1999 letter sent to the Research Directorate by the Head of the Consular Section of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Ottawa states, "According to the data provided by the Legal Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Armenia does not have extradition treaty or agreement with Kyrgyzstan."

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
