Information on whether the holding of a UAE passport indicates that the holder is a UAE citizen or has the right to UAE citizenship [ARE30931.E]

In response to questions transmitted via Citizenship and Immigration Canada, the Head of Legal Affairs of the Nationality Directorate in Abu Dhabi stated that the official proof of UAE citizenship is a document titled 'Statement of Record' (22 Feb. 1999). The Head of Legal Affairs added that some types of UAE passports are issued to entitle the bearer to social services and do not serve as proof of citizenship.
