Information on the Cherikay Fada'i-ye Khalq since 1987 [IRN16664.E]

Please note that as a result of a number of splits in the Organization of the People's Fedai Guerrillas of Iran (Zazman-e Cherikhay Fada'ie Khalq-e Iran) since 1979, there are many groups which undertake political activities under names stemming from the original name. Some of these names are used by different splinter groups. In addition, different sources have translated these names differently and/or with different spellings. Some of these names are as follows: the People's Feday, the People's Fedayian (Fedayeen), the Fedayeen (Fedayian) Khalq, the Fedayeen (Fedayin) Khalq (Majority), the People's Fedayeen Guerrillas, the Fedayeen Guerrillas of the Iranian People, the Iranian People's Fedayeen Guerrillas and the People's Fedayeen of Iran. Please note that khalq means people in Persian (Farsi).

The attached articles provide information on the activities of these groups in the period 1987 to 1992.

This response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the DIRB within time constraints. This response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
