Information on the right of Cypriots to Turkish and Greek nationality [CYP14869]

There are no special provisions in either the Turkish or Greek nationality laws for the acquisition of their respective state's nationality by Turkish or Greek Cypriots (Turkey 1983, 5-11; Greece 20 Sept. 1955, 103-106). Turkish Cypriots must go through the same procedure for the acquisition of Turkish nationality as any other foreign national (Embassy of Turkey 26 July 1993), and it is the same for Greek Cypriots for the acquisition of the Greek nationality (Embassy of Greece 26 July 1993). However, the procedure might be easier for Greek Cypriots since many of them have Greek origins (Embassy of Greece 26 July 1993). Any foreign national with Greek origins has a better chance of acquiring Greek nationality than someone who does not (Embassy of Greece 26 July 1993).
