Please find attached an English-language
translation of the law on intra-family violence (Law 19325 which
"Establishes rules governing procedures and sanctions for family
violence") and various statistical tables on domestic violence for
1994, 1995 and 1996, provided by the 48th Carabineros police
station in Santiago, the central police station for family matters
(asuntos de la familia) in Chile.
This Response was prepared after
researching publicly accessible information currently available to
the DIRB within time constraints. This Response is not, and does
not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular
claim to refugee status or asylum.
