Turkey Says Three Soldiers Killed By Islamic State In Syria

Turkey says three of its soldiers have been killed by Islamic State (IS) fighters in clashes in northern Syria.

The Turkish military says another four soldiers were wounded on September 6 in a rocket attack on Turkish tanks.

Two Turkey-backed Syrian rebels were also killed and another two wounded in the attack.

Fighters from the Free Syrian Army have recaptured the border town of Jarablus and a number of villages from the IS group since the Turkish military launched an incursion into northern Syria two weeks ago.

Turkey said on September 4 that IS militants were pushed out of their last positions along the Turkish-Syrian border.

Turkish forces have also targeted Kurdish fighters in the same region.

Ankara blamed the death of one Turkish soldier on August 28 in clashes with Kurdish militia.
