BISHKEK -- Kyrgyzstan's security service says it has arrested another member of an opposition group.

Kyrgyzstan's State Committee for National Security (UKMK) said on May 17 that a member of the People's Parliament movement was detained.

According to the UKMK statement the man, whose initials, G.A., were given, resisted a search of his home on May 16 and threatened to use firearms and explosives against UKMK officers.

The man was charged with obstructing an investigation and threating authorities.

Kyrgyz media reports say the detained man is the People's Parliament security chief, Aleksandr Gusev.

Last week three other members of the People's Parliament were arrested and charged with plotting to "forcibly overthrow the government" after they allegedly discussed a plan to organize massive protests if President Almazbek Atambaev refused to resign by May 17.
