Bomb Attacks Kill 35 Across Iraq

December 04, 2014

Iraqi officials say bomb attacks in Baghdad and the northern city of Kirkuk have killed at least 35 people.

Two separate car bombs in the Iraqi capital's Shi'ite district of Sadr City on December 4 killed 18 people and wounded dozens of others.

A bomb also exploded earlier near the Green Zone district where many government buildings are housed, killing two people.

A bomb in Kirkuk killed 15 people and wounded 20. It was believed to have been either a car bomb or set off by a suicide bomber.

Iraq has seen near-daily bombings and other attacks mainly targeting Shi'ite neighborhoods and security forces.

The attacks are often claimed by the Sunni extremist Islamic State group which seized large parts of northern and western Iraq in a summer offensive.
