Suspected IS Militant Detained In Moscow

Russian intelligence agents have detained a man in Moscow suspected of being a militant from the Islamic State (IS) extremist group currently active in Syria and Iraq.

Russian news agencies on September 10 cited a "source in the power structures" as reporting the man detained was a Russia citizen who allegedly fought on the side of the Islamic State in Syria.

The source said the suspect was in Syria at the end of 2013 and the start of 2014.

He is being charged with "participation in an illegal armed group," and faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.

Russian website "Gazeta.Ru" mentioned the capture of the suspect comes after IS militants on September 3 released a video threatening to start a war in Russia's Caucasus region.
