Mission/Mandate:
“EurasiaNet provides information and analysis about political, economic, environmental and social developments in the countries of Central Asia and the Caucasus, as well as in Russia, the Middle East, and Southwest Asia. The web site also offers additional features, including newsmaker interviews and book reviews.
Based in New York, EurasiaNet advocates open and informed discussion of issues that concern countries in the region. The web site presents a variety of perspectives on contemporary developments, utilizing a network of correspondents based both in the West and in the region. The aim of EurasiaNet is to promote informed decision making among policy makers, as well as broadening interest in the region among the general public.

Objective:
“The Central Eurasia Project (CEP) strives to make available more and better information about human rights and the social and economic health of the South Caucasus and Central Asia both within the region and internationally. […]
The CEP pursues this work along three lines. Funding:
As operating programme of CEP, EurasiaNet is funded by the Open Society Institute (OSI).
Scope of reporting:
Geographic focus: Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan.
Thematic focus: Political, economic, environmental and social developments, human rights issues.
Reporting methodology:
EurasiaNet maintains a network of correspondents (freelance journalists, photojournalists, writers, reporters) based both in the West and in the region. It also publishes articles edited by other sources, such as news and broadcast organisations (Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty).
There are also commentaries and analyses (Eurasia Insight) written by experts and scholars.
