Final results of presidential elections in Chechnya ("Chechen Election Commission proclaimed results of republican presidential elections") [#17203], [ID 15971]
"According to the data of the Chechen Election Commission, 499,325 voters took part in the elections, 569,349 people being on the voter lists. So voters' attendance rate came to 87.80%. The votes were distributed among the contenders in the following way: Akhmat Kadyrov - 403,490 (80.84%); Abdula Bugayev - 28,843 (5.77%); Shamil Burayev - 19,694 (3.95%); Husein Biybulatov - 8,244 (1.65%); Kudus Saduyev - 7,667 (1.54%); Nikolay Payzulayev - 4,387 (0.88%), and Ovukhat Khanchukayev - 2,688 (0.54%). 12,906 people (2.59%) voted against all the contenders."

"Akhmad Kadyrov's support was running at 81.1% with 77% of the vote counted, election officials said. The vote is part of Moscow's plans to stabilise Chechnya, but human rights groups have dismissed it as a farce and international bodies raised questions over its legitimacy."

"Leading Russian human rights defenders have refused to act as observers in the forthcoming presidential elections in Chechnya slated for October 5. In a joint declaration, they stated that they were not prepared to assist the authorities in “creating the illusion of legality” in the election. The declaration was signed by, amongst others, State Duma deputy Sergei Kovalev, head of the “Civic Aid” group Svetlana Gannushkina, director of the Andrei Sakharov Museum and Community Center Yury Samodurov, leader of the “For Human Rights” movement Lev Ponomarev, and priest Gleb Yakunin."
