In March 2007, groups affiliated with the PDP and DPP vandalised each others party offices in Sokoto; several people injured ("Country Report on Human Rights Practices 2007") [ID 23686]
"On March 10, groups affiliated with the PDP and DPP went on a 48-hour vandalism spree in Sokoto, destroying each other's party offices and members' vehicles. Several injuries were reported, and the police responded by banning all political rallies in the state, a decision that remained in effect through the April elections."

Sokoto State: 3 persons killed, dozens injured in fighting between groups of Sunni and Shi'a Muslims in February 2005 ("International Religious Freedom Report 2006") [ID 17812]
"In February 2005 in Sokoto aState, at least three persons were killed and dozens injured in fighting between groups of Sunni and Shi'a Muslims during a public commemoration of Ashura. To restore order, a curfew was imposed for approximately one month."
