"6.227. The Tujia are an ethnic group of about 2.8 million people. [16r]

They occupy much the same range as the Northern Miao, namely central China, principally Hubei and Hunan provinces and are not only known to live side by side the Miao but also have traditions of intermarriage with them as well. [16c][16r]"
