The Karmal-wing henceforth calls itself after the party organ “Parcham” (edited by Khaibar) Hizb-i Parcham; the Taraki-wing after the party sheet Hizb-i Khalq 1997 Formal reunification with Hizb-i Parcham 1978 Informal, but definite split of PDPA Chairman: Babrak Karmal Members: primarily Persian-speaking PDPA-members, intellectuals, upper class students, both Pashtuns and other Farsiwan Ideology: Marxism, orientated on SU, anti-american, is considered less rigid compared to Hizb-i Khalq regarding the implementation of socialist reformation of circumstances
