Hizb-i Khalq [ID 704]
People’s Party „founded“ on 4 March 1967 as it comes to the split-up of the PDPA, founded in 1965, whose chairmen are Taraki and Karmal. The Taraki-wing henceforth calls itself after the PDPA-party-organ “Khalq” (editor: Taraki since 1966): Hizb-i Khalq; the Karmal-wing after their party sheet “Parcham”: Hizb-i Parcham 1997 Formal reunification with Hizb-i Parcham 1978 Informal, but definite split of PDPA Chairmen: Taraki and Hafizullah Amin 1979 Split of Hizb-i Khalq into “red Khalqis” of President Taraki ad “black Khalqis” of Amin, his deputy Members: Pashtu-speaking PDPA-members, intellectuals, students with rural background, so-called social climbers Ideology: Marxists, apparently without following any bigger foreign brother party, is considered more radical compared to Parchamis regarding the implementation of socialist principals, but also displays some nationalist resp. ethnicistic lineaments in terms of Pashtunism.
