Home Party The Hizb-i Watan is the succeeding party of the PDPA. The name “Home Party” should point out the integrative character of this party. “Founded” in September 1987/8 by Najibullah, but in April 1992, immediately after Najibullah’s fall it was disbanded and prohibited Members: see Hizb-i Parcham Many of its members defected to the likewise by Persian-speakers dominated Hizb-i Jami'at-i Islami and Junbish-i Mily-i Islami after the disbandment of the Watan Party. Ideology: none The Hizb-i Watan cannot be constituted as a socialist party. It should serve as an instrument to unmake the ideological and (increasingly deepening) ethnic splits in the Afghan nation, inasmuch it can be conceived as a national party in consideration of its intention.
