National Islamic Front of Afghanistan (NIFA) Founded in 1978 in Peshavar by Sayid Ahamad Gailani, theologist, pir of the Oadiri-Sufi-Brotherhood Chairman: Sayed Hamed Gailani Party members: Sunnites, royalists, Durrani-Pashtuns from Kandahar and eastern Afghanistan, most members of tribes who belong to the Qadiri-Sufi-Brotherhood, and within the administrative and intellectual elite of the old regime. The party does not have a wide base, a small amount of its members fights in eastern Afghanistan. It is attractive rather for Afghans in exile, more exact: as connector to the king in Roman exile. It is mainly supported by Afghan businessmen in Pakistani exile, and by the Pakistani government Ideology/orientation: royalist, moderate Islamic
